Is your Breville Barista Express BES870XL still leaking after replacing the silicone gasket? Here is why:
If you have just replaced the Silicone Gasket on your Breville Barista Express BES870XL and it is still leaking water from the Group Head when you are trying to pull a shot, then this article is for you.
If your machine has been purchased between 2019 and 2022, then your machine has more than likely been the subject of a manufacturing flaw by Breville whereby the 5 screws holding the Grouphead collar were not induced with a threadlocker substance (like Loctite) and over time, with the vibration and pressure generated from the use of the machine, these screws are loosening up, thus creating a leak.
This has been reported lately on a few occasions from customers who have confirmed that their machine was indeed purchased within this time period. After performing the fix, there was no more leakage coming from the grouphead.
Unfortunately, the only way to access these five screws and to fix this issue is to disassemble over 80% of the machine, which is a tedious and risky procedure, removing the screws, inducing them with LOCTITE, securing them back in place and then reassemble the machine. Here is a video of how to perform such procedure and repair:

Below you will find reported threads from other users as well as a picture of the actual grouphead collar screws.
However, your machine comes with a 2-year warranty from Breville, and Breville is aware of this manufacturing flaw, so you hopefully should be able to get it replaced and/or repaired by Breville directly at no cost to you. Even if it is a bit outside of its warranty, you should give them a call and insist that this is a manufacturing defect and that they should perform the repair for free. After some resistance, they should bend in your favour.
That said, the gasket you have ordered from us should be perfectly fine - Make sure to keep it - You'll thank us later!
