Cleaning and Clogging Prevention Instructions for the 50mm 2-Cup Dual-Wall Filter Basket

HOW TO CLEAN AND PREVENT CLOGGING OF YOUR DUAL-WALL FILTER BASKET:

Immediately after every shot, remove the coffee grinds from the filter basket and rinse it thoroughly with water.
At the end of your morning coffee session, run a blank shot (without coffee in the filter basket). This will help reduce the amount of coffee oil residue that builds up over time.
Use a paper filter at the bottom of the filter basket prior to filling it up with coffee.
Soak the filter basket in a URNEX CAFIZA solution mixed with hot tap water for 15-20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly for 2 minutes and then put the filter basket in boiling water for 10 minutes, once a month or 1.5 month, depending on your daily usage of the machine.
Depending on the type of roast that you use, clogging may be inevitable. For instance, using dark roast creates more oil residue which leads to more clogging than using a medium roast. Tip #3 may prevent such clogging when using a dark roast. If your filter is fully clogged, another method that has been reported to work is to run the filter basket through a grill flame (BBQ, gaz stove, torch, etc.) for 5 minutes on each side using tongs and to tap it once in a while over a hard surface (you should see residues coming out either during the burning process and/or when you tap the basket), still using the tongs. Be careful not to burn yourself (always wear over mitts when performing this procedure).
